Our Day in Louisville

We spent all of Tuesday in Louisville, Kentucky exploring the zoo and sharing a delicious salad at the Cheesecake Factory. The weather was beautiful as our family including Kris' mom Eleonore walked around the zoo and looked at all the animals.

The ultimate highlight at the zoo was when we decided to feed the birds nectar. After standing in the middle of the enclosed canopy like we were told to do, holding our little cups in the air and not having any luck luring birds to the nectar, Kris approached some birds perched in a tree. Within a minute he had two birds sitting on his head and his shoulder. The first one pecked through his hair and ignored the little cups of nectar that Alyson and I were holding. The second quickly followed suit and joined the first by pecking through the hair on the back of Kris' head. At one time three birds were perfectly content sitting on Kris. The birds even enjoyed a little bit of nectar after they concluded Kris' hair wasn't the best material to use for their nests since it wouldn't come out. By the time he shewed them away, the girls and I had nearly two empty cups of nectar, and Kris had several lines of bird doo-doo down his back. Kris was such a trooper. What funny things you will do for your kids!

Another highlight at the zoo was when 2:27 pm rolled around because Ellary turned 3 weeks old. Happy 3 weeks old little girl! It also marked her first big day outside (reason she's squinting in the pictures).

The third highlight came at the mall where the Cheesecake factory is located. We decided to take a little walk around the mall after having our scrumptious salads. Eleonore gave Alyson and Kourtney a penny each to throw into a fountain, and told them to make a wish. Kourtney, 3 1/2 years old and not knowing that you are supposed to make a wish silently for it to come true, cocked her arm back and just before throwing her penny into the fountain said "I wish I had a penny" and then threw the penny into the water (not realizing her wish had already come true). Wow-the cute things kids will think of and say! Kourtney is so AWESOME,

Last Week's Highlights

Kris created a blog about a month ago that listed a lot of things that will transpire over this Spring/Summer. Well, in the past several weeks many of these things have come to pass. Ellary's birth was obviously one of the biggest highlights of the summer, shortly followed by Alyson's 5th birthday, Kris' graduation from Indiana University with a doctorate in Accounting, and then Ellary's blessing which just happened yesterday. Shortly before this time period we had a yard sale, got the house ready for sale, and shortly thereafter found a family in our ward who are now in the process of purchasing it. We will more than likely have to vacate our home by the end of May...WOW! So much has happened and we are eternally grateful to Heavenly Father that all of these things have come together and that we have enjoyed most of the journey through this busy time of our lives.

We would like to share some pictures of what has happened so far before I create another laundry list of things that will transpire over the Spring/Summer.
