Wow-two postings in less than a day! Well, there is so much to report!

Alyson had the scripture in Primary the last Sunday we were at our ward in Bloomington. She worked so hard to memorize it and once again Kourtney followed her sister's example and memorized most of it too. Here is Alyson resiting Doctrine and Covenants 138:47-48 (we'll post a video of Kourtney soon):

Catch Up

We have been exceedingly busy since our last blog entry. We sold our home and moved out of it just two weeks ago. That entailed packing, cleaning, and moving our belongings. Luckily a moving company did a lot of this for us. However we had to plan on taking a month’s worth of items to a friend’s house first and then to Colorado before we eventually settle into a home in Michigan.(Alyson and Koco camping in our basement after the movers took all our stuff)

Speaking of a home in Michigan, we spent this past week in the East Lansing area looking at over 40 homes. In hindsight we probably should have narrowed it down to fewer homes but we weren’t exactly sure what we were looking for besides the number of rooms and that we wanted a walk out basement if possible. Kris picked up Jessica's niece Jillian from the airport on his way home from a three day accounting Ph.D. conference in Norwalk, Connecticut so that she could help us take care of Aly and Koco while we looked for homes.

We finally found the home of our dreams nestled in front of a nature preserve that is right in the middle of East Lansing. Actually, Kris found the home several months ago while searching homes on the Internet and had a gut feeling that it was the home for us.

While we were in Michigan looking for homes we tried to do a little vacationing when we had the time. One highlight was a minor league baseball game that we attended in Lansing. The Lansing Lugnuts were tied with the Fort Wayne (IN) Wizards when we had to leave it prematurely because it began to rain.
We also found a pretty good Korean Restaurant where Jillian tried Korean food for the first time. She really liked it. She also experienced mid-west heat and humidity and then the first tornado warning of her life. Jillian seemed pretty worried when we heard the tornado sirens go off while we were about to leave the church on Sunday. We stayed in the hall until the weather cleared up. Homes just south of East Lansing were destroyed by what weathermen call strait winds and one woman died when her RV rolled over on her. And Kris and I thought we were leaving tornado country when we decided to move to Michigan from Indiana!

During our brief stay in Michigan the whole central part of the state including Bloomington was hit with some destructive rains that flooded the whole area. As we drove home from Michigan we could see and even smell the devastation. We were glad when we got home to our friend’s house that it and our trailer were unaffected (we were worried that our empty trailer would blow into their garage while we were gone because we saw a few trailers overturned on our trip back down here to Bloomington).

Since we have returned from Michigan Kris has been to an accounting conference, and Alyson, Kourtney, Ellary and I showed Jillian the beauty of McCormick's Creek State Park. As we hiked a "moderate" trail (the state parks rate the trails for your safety), we were forced to turn around because the creek flooded the trail.

Now we are actually blogging from Dan and Sarah Babbel's house in Columbia, MO. We should be to Grand Junction by Tuesday afternoon where we will stay until July 7th then begin our trek back across the country this time to Michigan instead of Indiana. The girls are especially excited about seeing Nana, Papa and Oma. We are so excited for what the next month will bring!
