Thanksgiving Visit

We had the pleasure of having Nana and Papa visit us in November and December. They arrived shortly before Thanksgiving and left three weeks later. We really enjoyed having them in East Lansing to visit and make many wonderful memories with us over the holiday.
They arrived just in time to see Alyson perform in her school play. Aly did a fantastic job as one of the narrators.

On Thanksgiving day our family participated in the Lansing Turkey Man Trot. This marked one of Alyson's numerous 5K's and Kourtney's first 5K race. Unfortunately Kris got sick and couldn't run so one of our friends, Merlin, ran beside Alyson while I ran with Kourtney. Alyson set a personal best and Kourtney did a great job completing the race. She ran almost the whole way!

Homestretch for Aly and Merlin.

Homestretch for Kourtney and me.

Our dining room is notoriously bad for lighting! Here is one of the few pictures that turned out to demonstrate our Thanksgiving dinner spread. It was yummy and every contributed to the cooking and cleaning up afterwards. We had so much fun together!

Dad tried to get back into walking. He had a good time walking Alyson and Kourtney to and from school although it really hurt his knees at times. One day after Thanksgiving we took a walk to the park. The weather was beautiful. We got lots of great photos too!

So Alyson and Nana apparently wanted a snow day so badly that they actually got one! Alyson put ice cubes down the toilet and spoons under pillows, all things she had heard help bring on the snow, and what do you know, the next day we got a ton of snow and school was cancelled! Nana and Alyson's wish came true!

Mom and Dad also celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary while at our home. 49 years! So awesome!
Ellary also took Nana and Papa to dance lessons with her. The dance studio even opened up the blinds on the studio window so Nana and Papa could watch Ellary dance which the studio only does once every other month. It was a treat to see her twirl and move.

One tradition that Mom and Dad have when they come to visit is to have lunch at school with Alyson and Kourtney. The girls love having their grandparents visit them at school.

It seems that just as quickly as Nana and Papa's trip began it was over! We are so glad they could spend time with our family and we can't wait for them to come visit us again really soon, most likely August, just before Kourtney turns 8 years old and is baptised. Thanks for making the trip, Mom and Dad!
