Long Overdue: Halloween 2012 Thru November 21, 2012

An update has been long overdue!  You know how once you begin procrastinating something it becomes easier and easier to put that thing off?  Well, that something has been the blog for me.  Yes, the last 4 months have been pretty crazy around here, especially since two of those months were basically spent getting ready to put our house on the market and then actually showing it and selling it.  However, there have been quiet moments where I could have sat down to document our family's lives, but I just never did it.  Shame on me.  Well, here it is 4:00 AM and I am seizing a moment when I can't sleep.   I know I have enjoyed looking through our old family photos and remembering so many good times we have had here in Michigan.  Wow-I will miss it!  By the way, everything is in chronological order starting with Halloween 2012 and ending with the day before Thanksgiving 2012.  Will have to blog another time to share December thru February.  Hope you enjoy catching up with the Allee Family.

Halloween 2012
Alyson was a pirate, Kourtney a zebra, Ellary a mermaid, and Keegan Thor.  Joel wore a snuggly warm bear outfit.  Ellary at the time was obsessed with Ariel and Keegan's hair was so long, blond and curly that he didn't have any say in what costume he wore.  Kris and I chose Thor for him and he was just happy to carry around a great big hammer.  Here are the kiddos at the Ward Halloween Carnival and Aly and Koco just before trick-or-treating.

Keegan's First Hair Cut
We loved Keegan's hair while it was long, whispy and curly at the ends...but there comes a time in every little boys life to receive his first haircut.  We tried prepping Keegan for this special occasion in many ways such as pretend haircuts given to family members, talking about how daddy gets hair cuts and telling him how he is a big boy now.

When the time finally came after Halloween, we had to hold out until after he dressed up as Thor, we took him to Great Clips where Kris gets his hair cut.

Before

During
At one point it looked as if Keegan might fall asleep.  He sat there so well and seemed to really enjoy his hair being combed..

 After
Our handsome little guy.  Too bad he used the scissors on his hair a few weeks later and had to have it all buzzed off.  It's finally a nice length now, and Kris wants to grow it out again.  We'll see how long that lasts!

Ellary's Dance Class
Ellary is currently taking a ballet and tap dance class.  She took a creative movement class last year and really enjoyed it.  This year she seems more coordinated and really tries hard to listen to her teacher Ms. Sarah.  Ellary loves Ms. Sarah.

Broad Art Museum Outing
Kris took the girls to the new Broad Art Museum on Michigan State University Campus the first day it opened.  They had a good morning together looking at art.  They said some of it was very interesting while some pieces were just weird.  Guess that's art for you!

Potter Park Zoo
I'm not always very good at taking the kids to playgroup at the church, but when they have outings or holiday parties planned we usually attend.  Here are a few pictures of an outing to Potter Park Zoo in Lansing.  The little girl in the white hat is Kinsley.  She is a cute little girl about 3 months older than Keegan with blond hair and bright blue eyes.  She's Keegan's little female twin and one of the few children Keegan will actually play with.  He's just too shy most of the time to play with anyone else. These three kiddos are great friends.  We will miss Kinsley and her family very much when we move.

Kourtney's Class Play
I have never known of a school that does more class plays than Alyson and Kourtney's School.  Both girls participated in plays last fall, but I can't say I remember what they were about!  Sad, huh?  I do remember, however, that Kourtney was first narrator in this particular class play.  She is standing by one of her best friends, Madeline, in one of the pictures.

 Downtime with Joel
One of my favorite times of day is when I have downtime with Joel.  Those quiet moments when we can just look at each other and not have a care in the world make all the other busy times worth it.  What makes these times even better?  When the family gets time to have this special bonding time with us.

Holiday Craft Party
Ellary had been asking for a play date all fall and when it came around Thanksgiving time I started feeling really bad that I hadn't given her that opportunity.  So, the day before Thanksgiving we had a bunch of Alyson, Kourtney and Ellary's friends over to make crafts and just have fun.  At one point the big girls helped the little ones complete their projects (wish I would have taken more pics).  It was so awesome.  Seems like everyone had a great time!

Well, that's all for now.  Will blog again soon.  There's still so much more to document and share with everyone.  Thanks for reading!
